Hendon Hooker is ascending in the NFL Draft and we found out today he's visiting Washington. Should have bought his stock a few weeks ago. Would have had a pot of gold by now.
He made J.T. O'Sullivan's top five. He has some great highlights. Football people don't like Tennessee's offense. It has to do with the Volunteers deadening one side of the field so that the quarterback gets used to a set line of sight which is habit forming. So you get worried about Hooker working his reads.
Well, as regards the Commanders, Hendon Hooker would not have to play right away. He would be guaranteed, because of his injured knee, to sit at least half the season and with Brissett and Howell in front of him, he can relax and learn pro ball under Eric Bieniemy. That is a good situation for him.
But the way he's shooting up the draft order I think he'll be out of range for Washington.
Maybe they trade up for Anthony Richardson but if Hooker gets into the top ten I think that's too high a price for an injured 25 year old. The third round would be better.
But who knows. To my mind, he's perfect for the Commanders in 2023. It's just I don't see it happening.
