Draft Mockery Episode 4: Penix Jr. and Twenty-Six Picks

Mock drafts are definitely alt-universes. The way you can tell is how they overcompensate you on trades. I guess it is click-bait. But does it derail their algorithm? Don't know.

Washington Commanders 2024 Mock Draft Episode 4.

Build with the Draft Theory. Trade down. Accumulate picks for this year and next. Got us a treasure trove for 2025. Two Number Ones. Three Number Twos. Two Number Threes. Nineteen 2024 picks (that can't be legal, can it?). Seven 2025 picks. Twenty-six picks for Adam "Captain Build By The Draft" Peters.

Michael Penix Jr. is headed up. He was at 27. Now a first-rounder. He's the anti-Flash Gordon. More bang for the buck. Whereas the Big Three who shall remain nameless are more bust for the bang.

Tackle Jordan Morgan was at 38. Guard-some-say-tackle flex Christian Haynes was at 40. Johnny Newton stud DT fell from projected 21 to 48. Carolina Linebacker Cedric Gray was at 67. Oregon Edge Rusher Brandon Dorlus was at 76. Thirty Visitor Kiran Amegadjie, physical freakish Tackle, was at 78. Maryland Safety Beau Brade was at 81. Kansas Edge Rusher Austin Booker was at 88.

Cornerback Kris Abrams-Draine from Missouri was at 96. Corner Andru Phillips was at 102. Texas Tech Safety Dadrion Taylor-Demerson was 106. Pro-style QB Michael Pratt was at 108.

MarShawn Lloyd, USC RB, was at 121. He's a 30 Visitor. LaDarius Henderson, National Champion Guard was at 177. Cornelius Johnson, Champion Wide Receiver, was at 206. Sundiata Anderson, Grambling State Edge was at 243. Demani Richardson, safety, was at 245.

Quarterback Sam Hartman, Notre Dame Fighting Irish, was at 255.

The 2025 Tennessee and Seattle First Round Picks were acquired. The Jacksonville, Seattle, and Tampa Bay 2025 Second Round Picks were acquired. The Buffalo and Jacksonville Third Round Picks were acquired.

That's some pretty heavy duty overcomp. But if you do NFL Mock Draft Database instead of Pro Football Network I think you'd find overcomp distortion that's even worse.

Or maybe I underestimate how much panic buying is built into this year's algorithms.
