Is War Coming to Washington?

There has been a war between The Washington Post and Daniel M. Snyder since the inception of Snyder's ownership of the Washington NFL Franchise.

There has been a war between Daniel M. Snyder and the D.C. Sports Media since the inception of his ownership.

The only war Snyder, who must be a closet Neocon, has avoided is a war with the NFL.

Now one is looming.

Recent news Snyder was "blocking" Jeff Bezos from bidding for ownership of the Washington Commanders would if successful "block" the NFL from an enormous influx of cash. The NFL, ostensibly, has final say on ownership of the team. We in D.C. know this from the Milstein episode which resulted in Snyder's bid to buy the Washington Redskins getting approved.

The NFL didn't think Milstein had the money. They thought Snyder did. Milstein withdrew his bid when he concluded the NFL would not approve it. Snyder's bid was approved. Snyder was a "monster" the League created.

We're headed toward Snyder submitting a bidder the NFL rejects because it thinks there's a better bidder out there.

But now that possibility is trumped by Snyder's request that the NFL indemnify him from lawsuits

I don't know about you but that seems like a shot across the League's Bow.

There is no way in deepest hell the NFL will indemnify him for any losses incurred as a result of his ethics challenged ownership. Snyder knows that. He is looking for a fight. It seems Danny Boy's envy of the big boys is becoming florid. His compensation disorder once again rearing its ugly Bonapartist head.

I've never been privy to the League taking a franchise away from an "owner". I don't know if it has ever been done before.
