The Professor: Washington Plus the Points in a Bengals Victory

The sentiment seems to be holding that the Cincinnati Bengals will run roughshod over the Washington Commanders on Monday Night Football.

The Bengals are winless and are just off a loss to hated rival and Super Bowl Champion Emeritus the Kansas City Chiefs. Emotionally speaking, the Bengals seem entitled to a resounding victory.

So public money is heavily invested in the Bengals. Sharp money also favors the Bengals to a lesser degree.

Point spread is still 7.5. Over under is 47.5.

The teams are tied all-time at 5-5-1.

Coaches Dan Quinn and Kliff Kingsbury have fared reasonably well against the Bengals in recent times. Dan Quinn clipped the Bengals 20-17 as defensive coordinator of the Cowboys. Kingsbury defeated the Bengals 26-23.

The last meeting was a 20-9 Washington victory in 2020 in a game that featured current Bengal QB Joe Burrow, Head Coach Zac Taylor, and Defensive Coordinator Lou Anarumo.

This leads me to suspect the euphoria over a Bengals Rout is a tad overwrought.

I will take the over and Washington plus the points in a Bengals win by a field goal.

Bengals 26, Commanders 23 in a crowd-pleasing Monday Night Feature.
