Mock Draft Post Jones Hire

There is talk of a switch to a 3-4 with the hiring of Daronte Jones as Commanders Defensive Coordinator.

Not that teams are clear about their base presnap.

But a good tackling Free Safety and bulky DTs who can play Nose Concept is key. Ergo, Caleb Downs and Lee Hunter. Another Incredible Bulk in Damonic Williams. Big Corner in Domani Jackson. Romello Height an outside linebacker sized Edge. Hunter and Height from Texas Tech, a good D-Line school.

With the 3-4, the OLB body type is more acceptable. The bulky run stopping edges are not as essential. Can they stop the run with smaller Edges in the 3-4? The bulky dudes are a bit rarer than the OLBs. You are more likely to stock up on those type Edges than the Beastly Behemoths.

Of course, you could plug the Beastly Behemoths in at End in a 3-4. Dual threat with the Beast and the OLB blitz.

But if you can tell what this Staff is going to do, you must have your Psychic PhD.

I took two North Dakota State Guys in Bryce Lance and Cole Payton. Lance is a big receiver. Payton is a big QB with several explosive run plays to his credit on his CV.

Vikings Biography

Grokipedia Page.

Should be an interesting Presser with Blough and Jones. Should help Mock Drafters and people trying to project Free Agent Signings.

Interesting numbers:

"Jones helped the Vikings to a 14-3 regular-season record and playoff appearance in 2024, the second-most wins in team history. The secondary played an integral role in Minnesota leading the NFL in interceptions (24), passes defensed (95), opponent 4th-down conversion percentage (37.1%) and interceptions per attempt (3.8%) and tying for the league lead in takeaways (33). His unit also helped the Vikings rank second in the NFL in opponent scoring efficiency (31.6%), opponent runs of at least 20 yards (five) and opponents rushing yards per game (93.5)."--Vikings Coaches Page

I'll take 24 picks and 93.5 YPG rushing defense.

Ball firmly in Adam Peters' court now.

Multiple media portals have blurted out the hire of QB Coach David Blough as the Washington Commanders new Offensive Coordinator.

Commanders Hire David Blough as Offensive Coordinator

Washington Commanders News: Offensive Coordinator Named David Blough

Detroit LIons TOTAL FAILURE To hire Dave Blough?

This sets the Offense up in a timely manner as they concoct strategy for 2026. The Commanders are well ahead of the Offseason Timetable and have plenty space to do a lengthy postmortem on 2025 and R&D on coaching, players, and playbooks.

It is both a conservative and a risky move. But apparently with solutions to the running game irony and continuity in the Jayden Daniels Offense.

The Running Game is ironic in Washington because it posts flashy numbers with lousy timing. It is Blough's feel for the running game that many RTDB Commanders Fans are going to watch.

Blough has worked with Ben Johnson in Detroit. The Lions were the envy of the league in the running game. He worked with Kliff Kingsbury as player and coach. He has two years on his bucket list with Jayden.

He is a risk because he has never called plays. And there is no guarantee he has a better feel than Kingsbury for running the ball. But his work with Johnson suggests he just might.

He is not a mystery to the Quinn Contingent. The due diligence is built in. So it is a conservative move in that the Commanders know what they are getting in Blough.

The Offense is now in 2026 Mode.
