Howell Facing Another NFL Defensive Genius in Seattle

Sam Howell did well in his chess game against Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots. He suffered an attack of Captain Jack Sparrow greed in the Red Zone that one time where he threw the stupid pick. But he survived the indignity and led the team to a Vic.

He's now beaten New England and Denver on the road. Two places that are usually all hell on away teams.

There is another guy who likes to make Quarterbacks look stupid in Seattle, home of the Washington Commanders' next opponent, the Seahawks. He is the winner of both the College Football National Championship and the Super Bowl. Seahawks Head Coach Pete Carroll. The man who sculpted the Legion of Boom defense.

Needless to say, Seattle is another difficult place for away teams. Commanders fans may hope Seattle is looking ahead to division games against the Rams and 49ers. Everybody's darlings, the 49ers, were earmarked for an unobstructed waltz to the Super Bowl, but at present they are tied with, you guessed it, the Seattle Seahawks for first place in the NFC West.

The Hawks have had a little trouble stopping the run these last three games. They've won two and lost one but the loss, this past week's bad day at the office against the Ravens, they gave up two long runs and 298 yards rushing. Lamar Jackson, the Ravens Flash Gordon QB, only had 60 of those yards. Ravens RBs were over 200 on the day.

Here's a look at those last three games:

Washington is a 6-point dog to the Seahawks.
