Info Blurb on New QB Coach Tavita Pritchard

Jack Thompson's nephew is coming to coach our quarterbacks? The Throwin Samoan?

Man's name is Tavita Pritchard. Coming from Stanford where he was OC and RB coach and started coaching defense. He played QB at Stanford but was eclipsed by one Andrew Luck.

David Shaw, an influential football coach in both college and pro venues, was Pritchard's boss at Stanford. Shaw called the plays. Shaw was a West Coast guy. Worked with some big time West Coast People. Bill Walsh, Jim Harbaugh, Jon Gruden, Denny Green, Brian Billick.

Shaw's last four Stanford teams struggled and Shaw resigned this past November. No doubt Covid-19 played a role in Stanford losing steam as it did in other college ball venues. Shaw is a formidable coach. It will be interesting to see if he recharges his batteries and returns to the NFL.

Stanford seems to be a coaching excellence factory. There is no reason as yet to assume Pritchard will be any less proficient than his predecessors.

Perhaps he will join Coach EB in the playcalling headphones in 2023.
